Our members joined the Vancouver Bailliage of the Chaine des Rôtisseurs and enjoyed a special treat at Le Crocodile, where Chef Michel Jacob presented his famed Choucroute Garnie à l'Alsacienne, a magnificent dinner and not for the faint of heart. The evening started with a glass of Alsatian Crémant from Domaine Zinck before sitting down for a Smoked Pork Hock and Foie Gras Terrine with Sauterne Gèlée and Céleri Remoulade accompanied by a 2015 Gewürtztraminer from Kuhlmann Platz, another Alsatian wine. Next came a Port Wine Consommé with Smoked Duck Breast Julienne and an Alvear Fino Montilla-Moriles from Spain.

Then the pièce de résistance – Choucroute Garnie au Riesling together with a 2016 Domaine Trimbach Riesling from Alsace, a great paring! The superb dinner finished with a Sorbet Poire William and a Warm Apple Cinnamon Beignet served with Kirsch Crème Anglaise and a glass of 2001 Château Roumieu Sauternes from Bordeaux.

Altogether a delicious and very satisfying dinner and we thank Chef Michel Jacob and La Chaine for the opportunity for our members to mingle and get to know each other and to member Dr. Christine Collison for her photographic record of the evening.
